Chad President Dies From Injuries Suffered in a Battlefield

Chad President Idriss Deby Itno have died from multiple injuries suffered in a frontline attack.

President Idriss Deby of Chad breathe his last breath while defending the sovereign nation on the battlefield.

The spokesperson of the country’s Army General Azem Bermandoa Agouna said in a statement read on via a state television.

The Chad long-time leader was re-elected for a sixth term in office earlier today.

According to provisional results published on Monday by the country’s National Independent Electoral Commission, the late president won the election by nearly 80%.

Other 9 opposition candidates, including some who withdrew from the election race share the remaining votes amongst themselves.

The Constitutional Court ought to declare the final results on May 15, 2021.

Chad army currently combat rebel forces that launched attack on the capital, N’Djamena.

General Mahamat Kaka, son of late President Idriss Deby have being appointed as the country’s leader.

The four-star general replaced him as the head of a military council.

Kaka is now the interim military leader in charge of Chad transition government currently.

The military also announce curfew from 18:00 to 5:00 until further notice.

Late President Deby was injured while visiting troops combating rebel that launch major movement last week from their Libya base hideout, army says.

The 68-year old leader came into power through a coup in 1990. He was always praised for his efforts in fighting insurgency.

In 2020, he received an award of the highest military rank of Field Marshal due to his efforts.

He is ready to lead the country for a sixth term after he secured a huge lead in the provisional results that was announced on Monday.

However, the army have dissolved the government’s parliament and took over the government affairs.
