During fashion weeks, designers and fashion houses show their latest collections on the ramp walk to potential buyers across the world.
There are various fashion weeks in most countries of the world every year, but these 4 are distinct globally and they are often referred to as the “big four” and they receive more recognition and attention and the schedule begins with New York, followed by London, and then Milan and ends in Paris.

1 Paris Fashion Week ( French: Semaine de la mode de Paris)
This is one of the best-known in the world, attended by designers from all over the globe. It is Organised by the French fashion federation and this federation is the determining factor for the dates of the event.
The first of it’s kind in Paris started in 1973 between October 1 and 9 and it has existed since then as a semi annual event for the spring/summer and autumn/winter seasons.
Also as a check, age limit is imposed in the Paris fashion weeks as it does not allow models below 18 years.
Fashion brands like Givenchy, Saint Laurent, and Oscar de la Renta, Balenciaga, Dior Homme, Nica Ricci, and Louis Vuitton are very active in their participation in this event.

2 Milan Fashion Week ( Italian: Settimana della moda )
This is the second global fashion week and it was inaugurated in 1958 and regarded as one of the best fashion weeks in the world.
Organised by the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, It is also a semi-annual event in Milan , Italy.
The autumn/winter event is held in February/March of each year, and the spring/summer event is held in September/October of each year.

3 London Fashion Week
This is a clothing trade show that takes place twice in a year as a semi annual event in February and September each year.
Inaugurated in 1983 and organized by the British Fashion Council for the London Development Agency.
The London fashion weeks ranks along with Paris, Milan, and New York and it is at the centre of the world’s fashion industry and is where everyone else finds out about the latest trends.
This fashion show showcases over 250 designers to a global audience of influential media and retailer.
Some of these designers includes Tom Ford, Burberry, and Vivienne Westwood.

4 New York Fashion Week
It was inaugurated in 1943 and this show is a major hit for both fashion designers and celebrities from the entertainment industry. It is organized twice a year, in February and in September.
Formerly called press week, the new york fashion shows off the American fashion to the world.
Designers often showcased in this events are the likes of Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Badgley Mischka, Michael Kors etc.
